Purpose of the application

Family Tehillim Bot helps approved family members coordinate Tehillim together in Google Chat. It provides one shared place to distribute chapters, see progress, and help the family complete Sefer Tehillim without duplicating assignments.

What the bot does

  • Lets a member choose an available Kapitel (chapter) or receive the next available Kapitel.
  • Shows which Kapitel are available, assigned, or completed.
  • Lets a member mark a Kapitel as said and updates shared family progress.
  • Shows a member the Kapitel currently assigned to them.
  • Supports bulk Tehillim workflows and family status/progress views.
  • Supports English and German interface options.
  • Allows shared Family Tehillim Names and private Personal Tehillim Names.

Why Google user data is used

The bot operates inside Google Chat. It uses the Google Chat user identifier and basic account/profile information made available to the app so it can distinguish one member from another, associate Tehillim assignments and preferences with the correct member, and keep private Personal Tehillim Names associated with the member who entered them.

The bot processes messages and button interactions that users intentionally send to it so it can carry out requested actions such as choosing a Kapitel, marking it complete, changing language, or managing Tehillim names.

Information stored by the bot

Depending on the features a member uses, the bot may store a Google Chat user identifier, display name, membership information, language preference, Tehillim assignments and completion status, dates/times of Tehillim activity, shared Family Tehillim Names, and private Personal Tehillim Names. Operational data is maintained using Google services such as Google Sheets and Google Apps Script.

Family Names and Personal Names

Family Names are shared prayer names intended to appear for approved family members. Personal Names are associated with the individual member who added them and are intended to appear only with that member's Tehillim experience.

Access and distribution

The application may be distributed through Google Workspace Marketplace so relatives using different Google account domains can access it. The underlying Tehillim group is intended for approved family use. Marketplace availability does not by itself make someone an approved family member.

Privacy and data use

Family Tehillim Bot does not sell Google user data, does not use Google user data for advertising, and does not use it for credit, profiling, or unrelated commercial purposes. Google user data is used only to provide and maintain the user-facing Family Tehillim Bot functionality described on this page.
